Connected Whole Health has brought together some of the brightest minds in sports medicine and chiropractic care to develop an evidence-informed approach to health and healing. We take the best of treatment and preventive care options that are customized to help every patient meet their unique health and healthy living goals. Our model is based the latest medical research, our university’s own data, and the knowledge and experience of our team members. As the leader of medical services for the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), Dr. Bill Moreau worked with Olympic and Paralympic teams where he was responsible for the care of thousands of Team USA athletes, provided by more than 200 clinicians from numerous health care disciplines. During his tenure at USOC, Dr. Moreau served as the Team USA chief medical officer during the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games, and the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games as well as serving as the medical director for the the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games and the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games. Over his more than 30-year career, he has also treated collegiate, high school and recreational athletes.

Dr. Moreau is a licensed chiropractic physician and a board-certified Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP). He has presented more than 500 lectures and postgraduate education programs throughout the world. Dr. Moreau is currently president of the ACBSP and is a member of the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine editorial review board.

Dr. Beverly Harger is a chiropractic radiologist with more than 26 years of clinical experience. In 1992, she completed her radiology residency at University of Western States (formerly WSCC) and attained her diplomate status from the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology (ACBR). Her influential mentors were Dr. Appa Anderson (the first chiropractic radiologist and who started the radiology resident program at UWS – formerly WSCC) and Dr. Cynthia Peterson, Harger’s residency director.

She is the director of the MS in diagnostic imaging (MS-DI) as well as the clinical radiologist for the University of Western States. She believes that the radiologist is an integral part of the patient’s healthcare team and, therefore, should have direct communication with the doctor. In addition to her role as radiologist, she enjoys teaching post-graduate courses on imaging. As director of the residency in diagnostic imaging she is directly involved in training the next generation of chiropractic radiologists. When she is not in the proverbial dark room of the radiologist, she enjoys most outdoor activities except weeding.

Sarah Crockett is originally from the town of Bothell, WA. She has a strong desire to help people in pain, which led to pursue becoming a chiropractic physician. She grew up active in competitive sports. Today, she continues to be active, especially in the dance community. Her love of sports and an active lifestyle helped her determine the patient population she wants to focus on in her future practice. Sarah is headed down to sunny San Diego where she hopes to start her career.

Jesse Gordon is a chiropractic doctoral candidate at the University of Western states (UWS) with a projected graduation date of September 2021. His professional interests include: innovative rehabilitation techniques for chronic pain and complicated neuromusculoskeletal presentations, integrative approaches to patient care, and research on the applications of virtual reality in conservative orthopedic care.

Jesse is the executive chair for the Student Alliance for Integrative Medicine (SAIM) where he has helped organize multiple events focused on communication and coordination of care between different medical professions. He is an active member of the Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA) where he advocates for patients’ rights to states’ representatives and senators in Washington DC. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his partner Johnmichael and their two cats. He also likes to keep active through hiking, salsa dancing, practicing jiu-jitsu and playing board games.

Jasmine Piper is a chiropractic intern with an expected graduation date of December 2021. She is the current president of the Student American Black Chiropractic Association (SABCA) and the current president of IMPACT: Cultivating Diversity + Inclusion in Chiropractic where she advocates for inclusivity and representation within chiropractic for both patients and doctors. Her goals in chiropractic are to empower all families within the community through health and wellness by utilizing the art of chiropractic. She is excited to be a part of the Connected Whole Health team and to serve and heal our community.

After playing professional soccer in N. Ireland and Sweden, Emma Scaro worked with and played for top end coaches and performed in high stress environments. Through experiencing her own personal and teammate sport injuries, she developed a strong passion for injury prevention. She has always been interested in whole body health and how nutrition, exercise and lifestyle influence performance and injury prevention. This led her to pursue a master’s in sports medicine along with a doctorate in chiropractic which is what led her to work with Dr. Moreau. 

Emma Scaro graduated with a BS in biochemistry from Eastern Illinois University in 2017 and obtained a BS in biology from the University of Western States in 2019. She is certified in CPR, Graston and SafeSport. She presented her undergraduate research at the Protein Society Annual Symposium in Montreal, Canada. Emma completed an internship at the Medical College of Wisconsin while researching in the Oncology and Immunology Departments. She is highly involved in the community and currently coaches for Foothills Soccer Club ages 9-11.

Monika Hernandez has a strong passion for health care, and has worked within the industry of health since 2011. She has worked closely with health systems and local private practices in bridging potential gaps in care through developing strategic initiatives of partnership and collaboration with health care professionals improving access to high-quality care for all communities.

Monika earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. Monika was a first generation in the U.S. with family originating from Poland, she was raised in the Pacific Northwest and enjoys staying active, reading and spending time with her two sons, husband and mastiff.

Solome Mekbib joined University of Western States in 2020 as the data analyst. Solome collaborates with Oregon Community Health Information Network (OCHIN) evaluating clinic performance metrics to improve efficiency, interoperability, safety and quality of patient-centered care delivery. Solome monitors quality improvements through our Epic electronic health records (EHR) system and develops processes and tools that optimize and improve user experience and track patient outcomes.

Solome is actively engaged in publishing research of information systems and neuroscience articles in the application of biometric-brain computer technologies to understand cognitive behavior.

Ryan Pryse has experience coordinating with various departments on optimizing best practices in billing and coding in both private clinic specialties and larger hospital-based systems. He has been with the UWS team since 2016. Ryan works closely with clinicians on credential monitoring and providing regulatory billing improvements. Ryan spends his free time exploring the great woods of the Northwest and taking his son camping.
